Who is a teacher?

Teachers have been traditionally regarded with awe, respect, and inspiration by many students. In a cyber technology time, teachers seem to have faded in the background. They seem to have been replaced by machines. Computers took over some of the teaching process. Learning has become cyber, rather than physical. Students seem to enjoy the independence they find in learning all by themselves through computer-aided instruction or so-called e-learning approaches.

Teacher is a generic term representing all types of teaching persons. They are called mentor, coach, instructor, professor, teacher, educator, and those engaged in the act of teaching.

A teacher is one who mentors; someone who teaches; someone who guides another to a new knowledge; someone who imparts new knowledge or expands what is existing; someone who inspires others to new knowledge adventures; someone who is a friend, a tutor, and a motivator. These and more... a teacher is one who has a noble mission of being an agent of change, a model of virtues, an example to follow, a gift from God sharing life to others.

If you possess any of these characteristics, you are a teacher.
